Nurturing Nature, One Garden at a Time

At the heart of Grovewell Garden Centre’s approach to sustainability is transparency, accountability and a commitment to continuous improvement.

By setting ambitious targets and regularly benchmarking our progress, we strive to drive sustainable change.

We believe in cultivating strong relationships with our customers and local communities. By sharing our journey, challenges, and successes, we aim to inspire and empower others to adopt more sustainable practices at any level.

Our Progress

Renewable Energy Transition

Our latest Solar Array at Hamstreet Centre came online in 2025, bringing our total solar generation capacity up to 100 KWH. We now have solar power at 3 centres, with more planned for the future. For the rest of the electricity we use, we have committed to using 100% REGO certified green energy. Hamstreet Centre has already transitioned, with our other centres transitioning by October 2026. We have joined a buying consortium through Sustainable Energy First, who purchase entirely from UK based Solar, Wind and Hydro installations.

Grovewell Gold App

Digitalisation plays a key role in our sustainability strategy. The continuing development of the Grovewell Gold app enhances customer communication, engagement and rewards, helping us to evolve alongside a changing world.

Carbon and ESG Reporting

We have been working since 2022 to measure and monitor our carbon emissions. We published our first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, and will be making this an annual report. This provides a transparent and accessible evaluation of our sustainability performance. It allows us to track progress and identify areas for the most meaningful continuous improvement.

Sustainability Champions

To drive environmental initiatives across all centres, we appointed Sustainability Champions at each location. This ensures a unified yet tailored approach, empowering our team to embed sustainable practices into daily operations.

EV Charge Points

We have installed 12 EV charge points at Hamstreet Garden Centre, with plans for more at other centres in the future.
